Breakfast Club

We are delighted that we have managed to secure funding, from Greggs Foundation, that will enable us to offer breakfast club – free of charge – to all pupils that attend.

For children, breakfast is very important to help meet all of their nutrient needs and get their brains going for school. Breakfast is a great time to get much-needed nutrients into your diet including vitamin D, fiber, vitamin C and B vitamins to help get you through the day.

Breakfast Club Times

7.45am – 8.40am

If you would like your child to attend our free breakfast club, please contact the school office.

Harvest Can Collection

Thank you to all of our wonderful parents and carers for donating such an abundance of food for our Harvest Can Collection.  All food was passed on to Shildon Alive to share with our local community.

Rescued Food Stall

At St. John’s, Year 5 work very closely with a St. John’s Church Project, Shildon Alive, to run a Rescue Food Stall.
Supermarkets and businesses in the local area donate any surplus food to Shildon Alive, who in turn deliver it to school for us to add to our stall.
Year 5 successfully run the stall – serving our families plus taking and counting donations. We share any money that we raise between Shildon Alive and our school.
Our Rescued Food Stall is held every Friday, all year round and has proven to be a great asset to our school community.

Remembrance

On Friday 11th November, 9 of our KS2 pupils visited the war memorial to lay a wreath to remember the fallen from all conflicts.
They met an army veteran called Kevin who was happy to answer all of their questions about army life, remembrance day etc.  Along with other members of the community ,they took part in an impeccable 2 minutes silence.
